Kia Ora friends;

We know many farms have a steep gully, or a big patch of swamp or some other piece of land that’s barely used or barely profitable. We also know our farmers have a deep love and respect for this land of ours, and give their sweat to it so it can give us kiwis what we need and love. Grow Kaha provides a way for land owners to create healthier farms that support their community, their land and their legacy.

There’s four key things you need to know:

1. You still own the land! It’s yours. We work together to form an agreement which basically ring-fences the land area and protects it for native and educational use for the next 20-50 years. Where possible, we like the land to be adjacent to a publicly accessible road, and a minimum of 5 acres.

2. We work with Enviroschools, landscape architects, local schools and community groups to develop a plan for your area - you can be involved as little or as much as you’d like.

3. We fundraise for both planting and outdoor classroom building as required, working with a range of sponsors and groups. You can assist by allowing us to guide you through in any available government native planting grants!

4. The kids aren’t there every day! The beauty is that access is managed via a rostered schedule with participating local schools and kindergartens so you know when they’re coming and when you can move stock down the road. Plus you can block out a bit of time if you want to get down to the duck shooting pond!

Contact us here if you have a corner of the farm in mind, or any more questions!

We are still working on this part of our site, but we know as a team, many people that work in our two primary industries (if you don’t know; you do now, it’s agriculture and horticulture!) are suffering terribly with isolation and loneliness, more than ever ….. Your crew can’t go to the Mai Mai for a cheeky Friday night drink, or down to the RSA; but you need to keep going for the country, and we thank you for that.

If you are sad, lonely or just want a yarn, here are some contacts below.

Keep safe team, you are currently keeping everyone else safe!
